Cold and raw

January 23rd, 2018 at 09:13 pm

Today it is damp, cold, and basically raw outside. I did have to get to church to fill the ever burning candle or it wouldn't be burning a whole lot longer!

Other than that, it has been a no spend day for me. I have been doing laundry and putting stuff away. Not exactly thrilling, but not horrible by any means either.

One of our friends told us she does laundry every day. There are just two of them and they are both retired. I can't even imagine having laundry to do each day and what a waste it must be of water, detergent, as well as electricity and wear and tear on the machines. I understand people with more in the household would probably need to do laundry every day, but just two people? Egad.

Yesterday I fixed a chicken in the Crockpot and we had one meal off of it. I was thinking I need to figure out something else to make and then this popped up on my Facebook feed and looked really good on a cold winter day so I may be trying it:

Other than chicken and noodles, are there ways you use leftover chicken?

If I have leftover chicken I like to make chicken salad for a sandwich. Although since I'm not eating bread I'd probably just have the chicken on a bed of lettuce.

Chicken pot pie! Or in a salad.

I do a load of laundry daily, especially since my boys are into sports and one has daily PE. Nothing worse than letting some of that stuff pile up! They are responsible for shoe maintainance (soccer cleats and basketball hightops need to be sprayed after each use or stuffed with newspaper). I deal with the rest.

    Towels and sheets are weekly.

I often make chicken fajitas. Very easy, just pan-fry with with peppers and onions and seasonings (I use chili powder, cumin, and chipotle), top with salsa and cheese and put in a flour tortilla.

We make a lot of chicken enchiladas and love a chicken pie.

I do laundry almost every day, same reasons as Laura. I'm hoping to take a day off Friday to nap, organize and do laundry! Heaven!

Chicken tetrazini, and chicken and noodles with sour cream sauce ( like a strogonoff). In the summer, in salad with black beans and corn.

If you have kids, I totally understand doing laundry every day. Or if you have someone in your house or more than one working out at the gym. But two folks who don't do too much?

    Thanks for the chicken ideas!

Daily laundry for 2 seems like a waste to me. Is she a clean freak?

PatientSaver, I don't think she is a clean freak. I honestly don't think she knows what to do with herself since she doesn't read, doesn't cook, doesn't craft, and won't volunteer. The only thing she really likes to do is shop.
