I didn't leave the house and still spent money!

June 4th, 2013 at 02:07 pm

I stayed around home today and cleaned the garage. However, I did spend some money and no, I didn't order anything on-line.

The furnace and a/c guy came for the annual check so I paid for that. And, the lawn guy came and fertilized and I paid him for that.

Not very exciting stuff, and not unexpected. But, it is sad that I don't have to leave home and still spend money.

DH is ticked because we have rabbits eating his garden. Any suggestions on keeping them out of the vegetables?

I put chicken wire around our garden...2 feet high. They can still get in if they want to jump in, but generally they don't.

Marigolds! My neighbors swear by them.

I would say no to marigolds. They haven't stopped the rabbits from munching our garden!

I heard somewhere that you should sprinkle used kitty litter in the garden. EEeeww!

If you do find out what keeps those little buggers out, please let us know. I have planted marigold seeds and they are coming up, so I was hopeful that would help. I think a bunny has been eating my celery. Something else has been eating leaves off of other plants.

    CB... EEwww is right! Ick!

Last night DH put a ton of cayenne pepper on the plants. Something ate the top of the remaining pepper plant. I'm hoping they got a snout full and will not return. The chicken wire is a good idea, but our garden is in the front yard because the back yard is all shade. No one complains about the garden, but the chicken wire might be the straw that broke the camel's back.

You can buy a sprinker head attachment that is actived by a motion sensor. My mom uses one to keep cats from peeing on things in her front yard.
I would think it could work well for your problem too.
