Oops...grabbed the wrong jar!

As I was fixing supper tonight -- our typical Sunday night staple of "Sloppy chicks" -- I went to get a jar of frozen tomato sauce I had made last summer. My mind was on other things and I grabbed the wrong jar. Defrosted that puppy, never even looked at it when I added it to the onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms and ground chicken...it was leftover chili! So we had sloppy chick chili mac. It was kind of soupy and I had made mashed potatoes last night and we had leftovers. I added them to thicken it. But you know, it wasn't bad! DH said he enjoyed it and that is all what matters!

    Hmm, that actually sounds pretty good to me. Maybe you should refine the recipe a little and make something wow! ;-)

    I actually added shredded taco cheese to it and it was darn good! Would you add something spicier?

    I think I'd add something to kick it up a notch or two. Do you have any sriracha? A few drops of that might be delicious. What about chopped bell peppers or other vegetables?

    I had chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, and vidalia onions and some minced garlic. We aren't into super spicy, but thought you might be.

    It's the Texas in me. ;-) I don't like things too hot but do like things a bit on the spicy side! It sounds good to me and I might try making that soon. Thanks for the idea!

    Thickening agents like cornstarch, potato flour, tapioca powder or arrowroot are really simple fixes for any liquid/sauce you feel is too thin. I keep a small spice jar of each on the condiment shelf on the fridge door. You might like to add a few tablespoons of any Salsa in the fridge can kick it up a notch without being 'spicy.'
