Hot tea

January 13th, 2018 at 07:28 pm

A couple of years ago I made a promise I wasn't going to buy any more tea until I drank what I had. I wasn't talking about the tea I use to make iced tea which is what we drink instead of soda pop.

I had done pretty well and used up most of the tins of tea I had. Most had been gifts.

This Christmas some friends gave me some peppermint tea and some Chai tea all loose leaf. I had never had Chai tea so I tried it. I rarely put sweetener in my tea so I am finding it a bit sweet, but good. Right now I'm drinking a cup of peppermint tea. I decided to use my coffee maker and put in a clean filter after washing out the piece where the filter goes and it made a nice bit of tea.

We watch quite a few English murder mysteries and many of them have tea being served. One thing that I don't do is put milk in my tea. Just wondering if any of you do. I guess I never thought about doing it. I put milk or creamer in my coffee. Sometimes I put honey in my tea if I have a sore throat, but usually I don't add anything. Perhaps it is what one grows up doing.

I put milk in tea now, but didn't when I was young. I must have changed cuz two girl friends both put milk in. Probably, I could do either now.
I don't use sugar either, and didn't care for chai when I tried it.

When I was young, I drank tea the way my family did -- with evaporated milk and sugar. I dropped the milk after I went out on my own. I use creamer in my coffee but only when it's cold. I drink hot coffee black. (I'm complicated!)

Never! Destroys the true tea taste, and it's also more healthful without it.

I also go like to buy fancy teas as I drink it every day, twice a day. Right now I have black tea, green tea and white tea in the house, along with some delicious Stash chai tea, which I really enjoy. I use a bit of stevia, sometimes some lemon, but that's it.

My family would drink regular black tea with just sugar (or without if we were having it with Chinese food). Sometimes we'd make peppermint tea from the leaves in our yard and not put anything in that.

Then I married an Englishman, and now I drink (soy)milk in my tea along with sugar. Go figure! But he's adjusted even more than me, because he drinks far more coffee than tea now.

I've been drinking a sleepytime tea with valerian root some nights, and I don't put anything in that.

I think I'd try milk in the chai tea if I were you. I've only ever had it in coffee shops with soymilk, like a latte. It might be the one tea you end up liking with milk.

Rob, I love coffee and tea! I drink both as is, no milk or sugar. DS1 drinks decaf coffee sometimes, and DS1 and DS2 both drink tea. In the winter I'll make a traditional English teapot of tea (I'm half English) and we really enjoy it, no milk or sugar for them either. Only honey when someone is sick. We have Chamomile, Earl Grey and cinnamon apple on hand right now. I remember when I started my first job in the 80's, the coffee was so bad you had to add creamer and sugar!

I have milk in my tea. But if I have herbal tea, I don't take milk.

My mother puts a splash of milk in her tea. She drinks her coffee black.
