It feels like Illinois is closing down

March 15th, 2020 at 09:16 pm

Our governor just had a news conference and closed all restaurants and bars as of Monday evening through March 30th.

Last week all schools were closed starting Tuesday until March 30th.

Most churches are suspending services and those that can are going to streaming. No activities for two weeks.

Lots of panic shopping going on as far as the news reports -- cleaning out supplies of all kinds.

DH wonders if the governor will suspend travel in the state as well.

I normally keep a few items on hand. Last week when we grocery shopped, other than hand sanitizer and facial tissue, everything was basically stocked. I guess that isn't the case. I just feel with this new announcement of closing restaurants and bars, I bet the food hoarding will get even worse.

I'm hoping to keep busy around the house. I have some projects to work on. I hope DH doesn't go stir crazy. He likes to be out and about and he normally goes to the mall to walk.

Well, here is my state update. It feels surreal.

I am fully expecting our governor to follow suit very soon and shut down bars and restaurants in my state too.

Wow! We live in a small town so I'd feel bad for the local businesses if that happened here. In fact, I was considering ordering take-out from a couple of local places for lunch this week while the boys are home so we could support the businesses without eating in a public dining room.

I just read a message from our mayor (here in Illinois) that restaurants will be open for take-out and delivery only.

It certainly does seem surreal. I mean, if this were a movie, we'd all be shaking our heads and thinking, how outlandish. That couldn't happen in real life.

Agree. I shopped on Friday and the stores were only out of TP. Then I went back Saturday for something I forgot and the shelves were almost bare of everything. Diapers, wipes, cat food, dog food, drinks, cereal, all paper products, milk, bread, canned food, etc. I live in a small town of less than 3,000 people!

If your city hasn't been affected yet, it will be soon. Go stock up for at least a couple weeks worth! Otherwise you may get nothing.
